2024 has been a tough year for me shooting nightscapes but in late September I managed to get out to Sunset Beach for the first time in a long time. I made my way to Bird Island and shot a sunset to Milky Way transition, one of the few true composite images I will do. The camera is setup for sunset and left in the exact same spot for more than an hour until it’s dark enough for the stars to be seen. I really enjoy planning and executing this type of unique image but I don’t enjoy battling the mosquitos while I’m waiting for darkness.
